Half way point

How on earth have we reached the half way point in the academic year?! I hope your children have enjoyed the year so far. As staff we have loved every minute of it! For me personally, coming to Manifold feels like the best thing I have ever done. I can honestly say, I absolutely love it. Aside from the beautiful scenery and the fresh air (I’m not convinced Warrington has either of those things!) the children, staff and community have made leaving home and our network bearable and worthwhile. Thank you to each and every one of you.

  • To the staff who all go above and beyond their job descriptions and contracted hours (if school staff have such a thing!) to ensure we create the best possible school and learning opportunities we can. Thank you also for supporting me with childcare etc.
  • To you the parents and members of the wider community for the support and encouragement you give us.
  • Last but not least, the fantastic pupils who make our school the special place it is. Each and every single one of them is a real credit to both their families and school. Thank you all.

Random Act of Kindness day

Did you know, today, Friday 17th February is ‘Random Act of Kindness day’?

Valentine's Disco

Thank you to all those who supported the PTFA Valentine’s Disco. The £80 raised will go towards supporting the children in our school. Thank you! A big thank you also to the PTFA committee and school staff for their hard work in making the event a success. Special thanks to Mrs Horwell for supplying our fantastic tunes.

Help needed!

We would love to hear from anybody willing to listen to readers. Full support will be provided by the class teacher. If you have some spare time (even if it is just 20 minutes) and are willing to help, please speak to Mrs Virani ASAP.

Illness

You have probably been told about the exciting ambulance that arrived at school today. Unfortunately, Mrs Critchlow became unwell while making lunch. As we couldn’t get her a doctors appointment and my magic rub and cup of tea weren’t working—we phoned for an ambulance. I am delighted to tell you that Mrs Critchlow is now home again. She did end up arriving at the hospital with the blue lights on but once the doctors had stopped and then restarted her heart she was okay! We hope she is fully fighting fit again soon. Big thanks to Mrs Bennett, Miss Gilman and Mrs Hall who all helped during this worrying time.

Catering

Tuesday 28th February is Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day!)

Mrs Critchlow and Miss Lipp will be serving up their delicious delights on that day. Please see the menu at the side.

Did you know? Shrove Tuesday falls on the day before Ash Wednesday each year, the first day of Lent.

Holiday homework

I am a great believer that holiday time should be family time and recharging of the batteries time. However, if you have a spare 5 minutes each day, please encourage your child to read a magazine/comic/book either aloud or independently or to share a book with someone else. Also, children in early years would benefit from counting from 0-20 and back again and identifying what comes before and after a number.

Year 1 — Number bonds to 20 and times tables.

Years 2,3,4 — Times tables.

A couple of minutes a day really will help.

Return to school

Please note — School starts again on Monday 27th February at 8:55am.

Hair styles

Please remember extremely short hairstyles, lines and extreme hairstyles are not permitted in school.

Year 4 – PSHE reply slips

If you have not returned your reply slip (PSHE lessons at St Bartholomew’s in Longnor) please do so on Monday 27th February. If we do not receive your child’s slip, s/he will be unable to attend.

Thank you!

A big thank you to Mrs Virani. It’s a good job she doesn’t clock off at 3:30pm as she regularly picks up emails and work from me very late at night and at weekends. Mrs Virani works extremely hard to ensure that the school runs like clockwork and that money is available for us to pay the bills and buy things. Thank you Mrs Virani.

Star Awards

Well done to all our certificate winners this week. Keep up the fantastic work!

EYFS — Eloise

Year 1 -

Years 2,3,4 — Hattie

Golden table — Lily and Sam

Christian Value — Oliver and Lily

Pond Area

Mrs Eades has been busy in the background making arrangements for our pond area to be transformed. We are looking for volunteers to come and help with some manual labour work on either 11th/12th or 18th/19th March. Once we know which is the most popular date we will let you know more details. Jobs on the day will include chain sawing, planting saplings, digging deeper holes for fruit trees to name a few! We hope you can join us as we strive to make a purposeful learning environment for the children and a breeding ground for wildlife.

Thank you Mrs Eades for your hard work to date. It is very much appreciated.

A big thank you to Miss Easter and the Outrageous Outdoor group who have started work in the area. You have done a fabulous job so far!

Afterschool Clubs

Stoke City afterschool club will commence on Monday 27th February for six weeks. This half term will be ‘multi skills.’
