I feel like I say it every week, but what a busy week (again)! This week saw us all wearing red for Comic relief, a visit from Dr Griffin and Mother’s Day afternoon tea. Although I think the highlight of the week for the children (and staff) was my lack of voice! Thank you for all your kind words and my chocolates (Hattie and Martha). They definitely tasted better than my antibiotics!
Red Nose Day/Comic Relief
I was extremely humbled to receive a letter from Sam G asking if he could raise funds in school for Comic relief. Sam wanted to attend school dressed as ‘The boy in the dress’ (David Walliams book) As a result, we decided to have a ‘wear red’ day with participants paying £1. Thank you to you all for your support and a very big well done to Sam for his fundraising idea. I look forward to hearing how much he raised during our assembly next Thursday.
Thursday afternoon saw us welcoming a special visitor into school. Dr Griffin joined us to talk to us about good and bad bacteria. The children really enjoyed the session and are eagerly awaiting Dr Griffin’s return on Tuesday morning at 9am. We all put our fingerprint on to an agar plate (a Petri dish containing a growth medium—used to culture micro organisms) and will find out what grew over the weekend!
Parents are invited to join us to find out the results at 9am on Tuesday 28th March. Thank you Dr Griffin for a great afternoon.
Phonics test Year 1 and Year 2 SATS
Please help us to support your children by doing extra work with them at home over the next few weeks. Your help is invaluable. If you need any further guidance or would like additional work for over the holidays, please do not hesitate to ask your child’s teacher.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Hopefully you received my letter earlier in the week to inform you that the photographer will be returning to school on Thursday 30th March. Hopefully the photos from this shoot will prove to be better! Please can I ask you to make sure children attend in the correct uniform (Academy jumper) with appropriate footwear and tidy hair. (Long hair must be tied up for school.)
Mother's Day cream tea
Huge thanks to the PTFA for organising such a great afternoon and to all those who supported the event. It was lovely to see the hall so full of smiling faces.
Thank you to all the mums for sending their photographs in. We will make sure they are safely returned next week.
Well done to all the children for singing and speaking so well. It was just such a shame that the technology let us down. Hopefully we will be able to rectify this in the future.
We would like to wish all our mums a lovely day on Sunday. May your day be as special as you are.
Hopefully this will arrive this week. Apologies for the delay. It has been out of our control.
BIG thanks to all those who gave up their time last Sunday (18th March) to work on our outdoor area. The area looked significantly better by the end of the session. Special thanks to the children who attended. I was extremely impressed by your strength, determination, commitment and skill sets! We will be looking for more volunteers to help plant our orchard and finish our outdoor classroom/shelter in the coming weeks. We can’t wait to get outside and use this fantastic resource.
We look forward to welcoming our next reader this Wednesday.
If you would like to be our mystery reader, we would love to hear from you. It would involve coming to read a book to the whole school at 2:45pm on a Wednesday. Please help us!
Wear a Hat Day
Friday 31st March is ‘Wear a hat day’ in aid of Brain tumour research. Children are welcome to support this event by wearing a hat to school (the sillier the better!) in return for £1 donation.
Did you know?
There are more than 120 different types of brain tumour. Brain tumours are the biggest type of cancer killer in children.
The children took part in a pupil voice exercise this week, carried out by Mrs Seaby (governor). All pupils were extremely well behaved and complimentary about the school and their experiences to date during this academic year. Thank you, Mrs Seaby, for coming in.
Well done to our winners this week.

Happy birthday to William, Andrew, Hannah and Emily! We hope you all had a lovely day.
Please note—children can access materials in addition to the ones set for homework. If you need help with the site, please ask.
Thank you to all those who attended the fashion show on Wednesday evening. The monies raised will go towards supporting the fantastic work that already takes place in the pre school.
Although we are two separate providers, I believe it is important that we support each other as much as possible. I was really disappointed not to be able to make the event but look forward to supporting their next one.
